Would this be the same spot to solder if I was trying to fix a speedometer that randomly drops to zero on a 98 plymouth neon with no tachometer?

You solder the back of the cluster...not the sensor.

Thanks this was the first repair I made on this car and now the speedometer is working fine, good call guys.

My sister has an 02' which lost all gauges last night. Would this fix apply to that year also?

I don't know if it would work on 2nd gens as they are data bus and 1st gens are not.

my gas gauge iz completly dead i thought it waz the gauge clusterso i boughta new one and itz still dead it worked 1 time wn i put gas in to my car and den it stayed dead

I'd look at your fuel sending unit then. It's located in the gas tank.
