New to the Forum
I have a 1998 Neon SOHC (>210k miles), 1998 Dakota 2.5L (>110k) and a 2003 Durango 4.7L. I found this forum while researching a problem with my Neon.
I just replaced the clutch in my Neon (factory original). Things were great for awhile but I had a battery light on. I thought it was because we had to add a new O adapter to the positive cable due to corrosion. However, it all of a sudden started draining the battery when sitting.
I read the code and it says 44 - Battery Temp Sensor, which I had never heard of before. Anyone know where this is located?

This turned out to be a funny story. When we were changing the clutch, I found a loose wire tucked in by my head light. When I pulled it out, it looked like a broken bulb. I pulled it off and threw it away.
As it turned out, it was the Battery Temp Sensor. I had NEVER seen the sensor in the spot on the battery tray before. So, it would appear that when I had the car in the dealer to have warranty work done, they broke the sensor and just hid it by the head light.
So, I bought a new sensor and tried to tighten it to the battery tray. And guess what...I broke it! However, as long as the sensor was in the plug, the battery light went off and the Check Engine light cleared. So, I used electrical tape to form a barrier around the wires, just like the old sensor did, and have put it back by the head light. I figured it wasn't work another $25! ;-)
Thanks for the reply.
