I own the a588 single cam can i put it in a 420a shell? like with no mods? please help

 

First, why are you replacing a dohc with an sohc?

 

Cause I have a great single and the dual is junk the dual shell has no title so I'm usin my single cam vin and I don't like 420a bad experiences

 

and second, wrong engine. Neons are NOT a a588 nor a 420a. they are the ECC (DOHC) and ECB (SOHC)

 

well im not exactly an expert thats why im asking questions and im only goin by what wikipedia told me but is it possible to do so jus swap motors and trannys? will it all line up and bolt up?

 

tis alright. Sorry if it sounded like I was being a jack-***. Just informing. swap the DOHC out for a SOHC? yeah it will work. What trans are you swapping? are you going from a 5-speed to a 3-speed or just swapping whatever is in the SOHC (trans and motor) into the DOHC car?

If you are swapping trans, then you will need a PCM to match up with the trans. aka: SOHC ATX pcm, SOHC MTX pcm, DOHC ATX pcm, DOHC MTX pcm.

 

It will swap. If the same transmission it being used in the shell, just leave the same computer. Would recommend getting the pistons from the 420A and using them with the sohc high. They are domed for higher compression, and are practically a few upgrade for your setup. New bearing, fresh hone, and a 95 cam shaft should do you well.

 

thanks guys and well im am using the sohc engine and the trans cause its a 5 speed so it will all go in good and i can use the pistons from the dual cam im geting? and i am doin turbo so i dont really want high comp but it would be nice for now cause my sohc needs re ringed. the dual cam im pullin out and rebuilding and possibly using in the other shell cause it has no title or seel the motor and are the trannys the same? the dual cam is a auto and the sohc is a 5spd are the interchangable? thanks for all replys

 

Yes you can swap transmissions between atx and mtx. All the the mtx accessories are needed for the mtx to work.

 

thanks for all your guys help and also would it be a noticable diff if i out the dual cam pistons? cause im buyin a billet aluminum underdrive and a header along with the pistons it would be pretty quick right? i only have and exhaust and short throw and it ran a 16.20 the other day at the drag strip and what about the dual cam injectors would that help in the sohc along with the alum underdrive pulley, throttle body spacer, header, straight pipe to a muffler, cold air intake, 10mm wires, iridium plugs, ported and polished head with crane #10 cam that i plan on doin in the next month or so
