that brings air to the air box. if u get a CAI or a short ram intake that comes out with alot more plastic. makes it look alot better.

sure, you can remove it, and you wont miss it. youll notice the intake will be a bit noisier.. but theres little to no power gain from it really.

its supposed to draw cooler air into the intake, but its shown to not really make any difference in quarter mile times by removing it.

one small note to mention tho.. i noticed that when i had my stock snorkel removed.. the filter got dirty VERY fast compared to when the snorkel was on. just something to think about.

Take it off and put on a CAI. Looks MUCH better and gives you a few extra ponies due to the colder (outside) air being more dense and burning better with your fuel.......

I don't think my '95 SOHC even came with that piece...

Good point, the '95's used a different airbox setup with the inlet at the rear of the engine compartment.

As others have said, feel free to toss it but be prepared for the decreased filter life. I removed mine long ago.

I don't know about you but those lines and arrows aren't normal...you should really get that checked out lol...jk

Exactly. That's why I got one. If your doing mods to your car that's like the first thing that should go on.

So without the snorkel the filter become got dirty faster but with the CAI will the same situation will be dirty really fast to ?? Why you got more ponies with a CAI and not really with the snorkel off ??

yeah, a cai will generally have the filter get dirty faster too .. i know mine (both when i had the iceman and with my current setup) both got dirty pretty quick from the dirt roads around here.. much quicker than in the stock location because of where they are.

the CAI gains in performance fully because of the denser, colder air that the engine is now sucking in. colder air = denser air = more hp.

I took that piece off when I got my first K&N filter and the only real difference I noticed was the sound. I wish I had known then that I was going to go ahead and do the 3.0 Caravan intake, because the 3.0 intake ended up costing me about $3 less than just the K&N filter for the stock airbox cost me! Anyone want a K&N for the stock airbox in a Neon? $35, barely used (less than 1k miles).
