Default 1999 r/t wont start/fire

i recently purchased this car and im starting to think i shouldnt have.. its turns over but wont fire.. sprayed some starter fluid in the intake.. still motor wont fire.. back fired 2 times.. and one have any ideas? beside junking the car???

Sounds like a timing belt, how many miles on it?

there is a lil inspection cover on the timing belt cover remove that and turn the engine over and see if the cam gear is turning that will let you know if the timing belt is good or not...

That will only tell you if it is not broken, if it jumped thaty won't really reveal it.

I had a similar issue recently. Remove the negative battery cable for 30 minutes. Put the negative cable back on, and try to start the car. Probably will not start. Check for codes:
