Default just looking to get pointed in the right direction

i have a 98 neon its a sohc rolled well over 200000 miles i got it from my father inlaws back yard a year ago i plan on boosting a bit looking to get another sohc engine and doing the dohc top end swap and running the aitomatic throtte body is there a nice cam set out there so i can get a aggresive camming sound out of it i have 2000 grand budget on this build but any pointers and tups would be appriciated thank you

A dohc head is not a bad place to start. They can be had for decently cheap. I would add a header at this time too. Ebay has them for cheap, and they are made of stainless steel. Great for those living in area where road get salted, as the stainless steel resist rust. The 1G dohc intake manifold is easier to port as well. As for after market cams www.moderperformance.com sells crower cams. You can call them for better guidance as to what cams will benefit your engine build plans.
