Default Ignition System Problem – No Instrument Panel Lights w/ Switch in “Run”

Am reworking ‘98 front end after collision… Replaced the usual broken stuff including starter solenoid that cracked by impact of fan housing being pushed backward. Battery case was cracked but battery is OK. Also replaced battery cable as it too was damaged at solenoid.

Went to test cranking and no instrument panel lights and of course no noise from solenoid or starter.

All pertinent fuses seem OK…. Swapped relays in power distribution system and still no nothing…. Checked continuity of small brown wire that plugs into socket of solenoid head and found it to be “open” (Have logic probe with LED that lights red if wire leads to positive and green if wire to ground.) Did likewise to black wire with redish hard plastic and metal eyelet that attaches to positive post of solenoid. It too shows as “open”.

Haynes Manual makes mention of a fusable link between alternator and starter that but I haven’t seen it and am not sure what I should be looking for. Help.?….

Also removed ignition switch and it “looks” OK. Can this switch be tested? Would this switch likely go kaput in a collision as above?…. Also used probe to check continuity in the wires in the plug to starter switch. All OK except one that is red in color and one that is black and white in color. These two checked as “open”.

Looking for suggestions.

TIA
