Exclamation question???

I have a 96 neon and money is tight so i can only afford to do a swap of a 2000 neon motor and i had a question about if i put the cam from a 96 into the 2000 neon motor if it would give it more horsepower and more torque or if it wont help it they are both sohc as they didnt make a dohc in 2000 as far as i know of and no it isnt the magnum motor just basic 2.0 the head was ported and polished and im doing a headgasket and alot of the seals before i put it in so if anyone know if i put the cam from my 96 into this 2000 engine if it will do anything and if anyone knows if i will be able to use my stock wiring harness at all or if i will need to use the wiring harness from the 2000 ?any help is greatly appreciated thanks **no bashers please thanks**

***headgasket is going and a loud rod knock on my 96 neon motor so thats the reason for doing a swap right now***

You would not see any added HP increase from the 96 cam over the 2000 cam. You will need to use the 96 manifolds and maybe swap some sensors so you can use your existing 96 wire harness.

The manifold connects to the head, not the block. And yes it fits. I am not sure about which sensors you will need to switch. If they plug into your current harness, then leave the newer one in there.

I personally wouldn't trust it, but that's me. I get the one from Modern Performance.

welll the dohc swap is cheaper than you think if your goin boost jus keep your whole bottom end and get a head you can keep your sohc pcm youll be running less timing and then youll only need a couple of things

I already have the engine and its only costing me like $150 for everything i need and the dohc would cost more and i really need something i can drive
