Default Compression Increase

so from what i understand for every .25" you add to your head gasket you lose about 1 compression point. would this be the same for increasing compression? and if this is down what would be needed to make up for the extra space since the cam will be slightly off in degrees, other than a adjustiable cam gear.and if you were to get a thin gasket other than new studs how would the gasket being so thin hold up?

i have a sohc milled .040 thousandths, pnp head, 95 cam lth, adj cam gear, for every .020 thousandths you take off you increase compression .5, my car sits lil under 10.8:1 w/ mls felpro head gasket. i cant remember how much shaving the head retards the timing, i have mine at 3 Degrees advanced, its runs great w/ other mods mopar ecu, etc. i've seen guys on neons.org take max of .070 off the sohc head...wouldn't recommend that much. machine shop charged my 34.00 to mill my head, i know the guy through family, just call local guys n ask, they should be able give you a price, felpro head gasket did well for me...got mine from autozone.

yea its always the right thing 2 do when reenstalling a head, imagine pulling getting everything done you want, installing the head then the head gasket leaks, then u get 2 pull it all over again, ebay you can get the whole gasket set for less then 100 bucks, sometimes lil more depending on shipping i got mine for 119.00 shipped it came with everything even valve seals n injector o-rings, head bolts n all. i'll save time puttin a new on now rather later.

Stock dohc pistons with a sohc neon head yield 10.3 compression.
