Default CAI?

I was thinking of building my own cold-air intake, but I own a 98 SOHC Auto and space seems to be limited...is there any way this can be done to route the intake into one of the holes in my front bumper over there?

<<<<<

And, if not, where's the best place to route the tube?

I'm pretty sure you could do it like the iceman. Put your battery in the trunk and send the intake down where the battery used to be. You might want to get a bypass vavle though because water will probably get in, unless your car is only a weekend type car.

Other than that I can't think of anything. I have the DOHC and I'm pretty sure the SOHC is set up the same and there's really not a ton of room in the front lol. The way I have it is the filter is in back of my enigne or behind the head, from AEM. I still get some hot air but it works awesome.

ok, that's fine I like the battery idea! Right now, my filter is almost directly above my header, so it's not exactly doing anything...the only difference is it's polished aluminum and bigger than stock [:'(]

yeah, having the filter directly over the exhaust manifold/header doesnt help much

you could do the iceman or 3.0 intake.. but theyll have to be shorter than those with the manual trans because the atx does take up more room. its still a lot better than sucking hot air from off the manifold tho!

That's why they call it a CAI lol, that's why I feel kinda dumb having it in the back, but that's what a hood scoop is for . That'd cure my problem. If you have it where it's only sucking in hot air, might as well keep on the stock one lol.

I did the Caravan 3.0 intake jobby. Nice little gain it gives. Easy enough to do on a SOCH ATX. But you'll be needing a Sawzall if you have the radiator with 2 fans.
