Car Won't Start??
I have a 96 Neon and it won;t start. I have replaced the timing belt, plugs, wires, coil pack, check all fuel lines and the car still won't start. I checked to see if i have any spark with my plugs and wires and i have non. Is this an ECU issue? I'm very lost at this point. Please help.
Hmmm...I was thinking of other things, but it sounds like you either replaced them or they are working if its turning over and just not starting. I would still check your battery, unless its brand new or you have checked it already, but that could be the problem. Could have a loose connection somewhere, maybe even a bad ground. Hmmm...can't think of anything else.
When i did the timing belt i also changed the water pump and when i was done we started the car and let it idle for a while before driving it and it seemed fine. when we were driving it we heard a pop sound then it died and havn't been able to get it started since. Since then is when i have replaced everything i can think of. When i did the plugs i noticed the 3rd and 4th had oil on them, but blew it off as a spark plug tube having a bad seal.
are the fuel injectors WORKING? is fuel running through them? check the bleed valve and see if their is any fuel in them. if not, I'd check the fuel pump. if it's cranking, then everything there seems to be in working order.
oil in the plugs you say? possibly a blown head...? blown seals also = compression loss = no start! ahh!! ok, im just spitting out things now, so I'll stop. someone else here tell me what you make of it.

checked fuel line that attaches to the fuel rail and when i turn it over to try and start the vehicle fuel runs through it. I'm gonna check compression tonight. I open to more ideas! please help

ok, i thought that oil in the plugs meant a blown head gasket. this is one of the downfalls of the early neons that was fixed on the 98? model. if it is, it will most likely be costly to fix, unless you or someone you know can do it. I have a friend that insures his work and can do it for $200, parts and all. but, normally, it's very hard to do.
Well on most computer controlled cars, While the fuel will pump through the line the fuel injectors won't fire until you have spark. If you do not have spark then you have a either a sensor, module, pcm, or power problems most likely. You need to check for power available to the coil while the ignition is on. Then one of the other connectors should break ground intermittantly to collapse the magnetic field in the coil to fire the coil.
Then if you have this you should have spark.---
This means you need to check your coil, plugs and wires again.
If not and ground was your problem---
Then you need to back track to probably a cam sensor (possibly crank sensor, not sure) to see if it is outputting correctly. If so then check your ignition module (replace) then check your PCM.
If power was you problem---
check fuses and then start chasing wires from coil back to battery. You may need to check fuses and relays on the way.
