my wife was drivng the car today and it made a high pitch noise then the engine died i had to tow her home i am woundering if the engine is messed up the timming belt is still intack from what i can see any info is much needed

eek. i guess it depends on what the noise was exactly on what the problem could be..

could be the engine siezed up due to lack of oil.. eh.. not sure what all else really. but it doesnt sound good at any rate. time to start tearing into the engine to find out what it was

 

no it is the water pump it is leaking i was woundering it i messed up my valves but the timing belt is intack so i hope not i will let you know by this weekend as i fix it

 

if the timing belt is intact, i dont think you messed up valves.

what gets me though, is you say it made a high pitched noise, and then died. this worries me. even a leaking water pump shouldnt do that.

 

High pitched noise could be something letting the pressure out due to the spike in temp could be around a hose or the thermostat could be the fuel rail boiling up gas since its right on the intake where the radiator cap and thermostat lay which is why it woulda shut off too mine shut off when it would get really hot after racing and made a high pitched whistle sound but that was only on a hot day....might wanna check the headgasket too they are prone to blowing if motor gets to hot...if it didnt blow any out of the cap or the cap blow....I dont think ive ever heard a water pump make a high pitch noise when it went out it had bearing lock up. what happened was it overheats when water pump goes out cuz there is nothing pumping fluid into the engine cooling areas and radiator cuz if the fluid doesnt move it just boils. Hope this helps.

 

i did not here the noise but i do know there is rad. fluid leaking from the water pump and the timing belt looks like it was puled a cross gears i wont know till tomarow when i tear into it will up date as it goes on she did say it did not overheat

 

it was the water pump the bearings took a crap but it is in new post (bad news)
