Default 4g63 swap???

Ok, i just got this car and have been doing some research. I know that i have the same motor as the non-turbo eclipses/talons. The only difference is the intake is on the opposite side of the head. But the eclipses are also mounted backwards from mine. On the eclipses you cam swap in a 4g63(turbo motor). I was wondering if anyone has tried this on a neon or if it would work. I have the motor and parts to do it but i was lookin for input first. thanks

last id heard, there was still only one person that had tried to fit the 4g63 into a neon. it will physically fit, barely (and with some modifications to the frame if i remember right) , but there was so much other work to be done to get it to fit, its just not worth it.

Yes its possible with relocation of the mounts, unfortunately hardly worth the hassle. The motor in an eclipse rs is the 420a same as the neons. the 4g63 is more then opposite the transaxle and motor are completely opposite...on a neon belts and timing are on the left side. The eclipses are on the right side or drivers side. I just gave up on my 4g63swap for the srt-4 swap b/c its alot easier to drop in. The avengers and sebrings share the same transaxle as the neons but has the 4g63 and 4g64 motors in em. I dont know how those cars are situated but you might wanna look into how those were engineered so you wont have to swap out the transaxles and maybe it can be done with little modification.

thats what i was always told the motor model was..... a 4g63 the 4g64 was a foofoo on my part i was thinkin of the 2.5 not the 2.4 sorry.....my bad. But the motor doesnt look the same as the 63t. Avengers look like the eclipse s/u but def have the neon transaxle. The esi talons have the same lookin motor as 2.0 avengers/sebrings w/ intake in back header in front...

and theres other factors to think about too on trying to get a 4g63 into a neon. the electronics wont work with the neon's wiring/ecu/guage cluster. so a lot of that has to be redone.

another thing i should point out:
while when you look at the DSM (eclipse/laser/talon).. the timing components are located on the passenger side...
take a look at the 4g63 in the EVO (starting from the evo3 on up i believe) .. the timing components are on the drivers side, yet the exhaust manifold is still in the front of the car while the intake manifold is in the rear. interesting eh? it would seem that the 4g63 out of the evo would be a better choice.. but it still doesnt fit into the neon without doing some work on the frame.

You dont have to worry about an ecu/ cuz they make a lot of aftermarket stand alones that can be reflashed with a piggyback control unit to work properly with everything else. But its going to cost u about three grand retail to get everything par with it. the flashing alone costs about 300-700 dollars to a proffessional but if u have connections you can pay a fraction of that. But if u want speed and a well built car it isnt a bad idea to get it done anyways.
