Default Couple things not working....Help!

Ok so I have read the post on the gauge clusters not working and how to fix that.

I have a problem that I don't think is related to that but may be I am not sure.

My blinkers and brake lights are not working. (car has sat for 1 1/2 years)

The hazards work, bulbs are all fine, and fuse's are good.

Any body have an idea of what would cause this and my steps to fix it????

I did get a new signal switch from the junk yard the other day but now they signals and brake lights are working fine.

I pulled the fuses and put them back in and changed the battery. I don't know what happen but it works

Ok I did check a couple of those fuses and if I remember right they wheren't blown.

Are you talking the fuses under the hood that look regular or the big black box fuses?

If the car has sat for 1 1/2 years, most likely the fuse connectors have gotten a little loose and/or corroded from sitting so long with no juice. Pulling them may have removed enough corrosion to allow a good connection again. You may want to pull all of them one and one and give them a little sandpaper TLC. That or just use a pencil eraser. The old Volkswagons use to have this problem a lot - even when using them. Just pull, clean, insert and drive off.
