well if you havent done a timeing belt in the recomended 100,000 miles I would do that also since the belt is removed before the water pump is removed.

+1 for changing the timing belt.

They recommend changing it every 60k, but they easily last 100k. Good idea to change while your there. Only downfall is $50+ for timing belt, but maybe that's only because I have DOHC motor. Hopefully a lot cheaper for SOHC.

yeah but the +50 is better than having to do +50 and the cost of having the head re-done

True. Preventative action usually saves the most money. I just must be the poorest schlock because it seems to be very hard to come up with $100 extra. $40 sounds so much better, but then again I bought my neon for $500. I like to risk it I guess. Just my
