Help!!!
I have an 99 Dodge Neon R/T 5 spd 2.0 16V DOHC. Two months ago I replaced both front rotors, break pads, and the caliper on the passenger side because it was locked up. Today I was driving home from work and I herd a grinding noise and a break squeal indicator and thought it was my rear breaks. So when I got home I check the rear breaks and they looked fine but when I checked the front breaks I was shocked at what I found. It was my passenger side and the breaks where an 1/8 of an inch thick and they were right up against the rotor. All I want to know is what the hell is causing this, and can I fix the problem being a back yard mechanic?
The brake line might of, most likely, collapsed on the passenger caliper. Its a simple fix. Just try replacing the rubber brake line that connects to the caliper. Put some new pads on, maybe a new rotor too if the sticking pads damaged them. Where did you buy the pads and rotor from? The rotor might be under warranty if its only been 2 months.
I bought them from "not so" advanced auto... Also would it be more likely to be collapsed from the frame to the caliper or from the master cylinder to the frame and is there anything else that may be causing this problem?
