Default Banshee whistle, please help

I just picked up a 96 dohc neon and it is making a horrible high pitched whistle, It is worst at idle and gets progressively better as more throttle is added. It seems to be coming from somewhere near the throttle body and if i take off the intake hose and open the butterfly rapidly the whistle changes tone and stops for a moment then picks right back up. The car runs strong, idle is rough and as the title says I whistles horribly...

Help or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Not the belts unfortunately I just changed them toninght along with the alternator. It wasn't charging and I thought since the alternator was bad that it was the alternator bearings.

The good news is it now has a new alternator and the charging system is working. Bad news is that the noise was completely unrelated. I tried to chase some of the hoses coming from the throttle body area but I was running out of daylight and some of those lines are pretty hard to follow.

Do you have a way of recording this with say, a digital camera or something. If we can hear it we could be of better help. It's so hard to diagnose something like this without hearing/seeing it.

Does it sound at all like this video? This was a Jeep that I had a few years ago, and it had a power steering whine, but only in cold weather. Just a thought. I dug up the video, hoping to see if it had any similarity to what yours sounds like.

try ducktape lol no dont do that id have to kill someone if they deface a neon like that. its probly a really small nick in the throttle body lower gasket and when u rev it the sucktion just just covers itself up when the air comes thru the intake
