Hi there, me here!!
I was hoping that someone could help me. I get water in my car when it rains. The floor board in the back seat and the trunk gets a [sometimes Not so] little puddle of water everytime it rains!! I heard that this was a common issue with this car. I would really LOVE to stop having to vacuum it everytime it rains!! lol (or not) But I don't know where its coming from. Does anyone know? Could someone tell me how to fix it? Before I start throwing pool parties in my car!! ha ha ha... OH Wait, not so funny now is it?

Your taillight seals are probably shot.

 

Don't have to be shot to leak... Open the trunk, dribble some water in the "gutter" and watch where it goes. A good size bead of silicon in the gap there should fix things up.

meh.. i wouldnt JUST silicon them up.. id replace the seals as well. theyre not that expensive, and not very hard to change.

 

[size=3][b][color=#CC0000]Ok, so I tried the "water in the gutter" idea and could not tell where it was going... so, I decided to pull the carpet out of the trunk. By the way, it was NOT pretty in there!! Goo galore!! Why did the previous owner not fix this??!!? Anyway, after I scrubbed It down with all kindsa cleaner and vacuumed it all out. I tried "water in the gutter" again... This time, without the carpet covering the issue, I could see where it was coming out. The water was going in the small gap where the left tail light meets the trunk seal and coming out all the way in the corner of the trunk where one of the wires comes out from the tail light. The water was coming in and running alongside the wheelwell, traveling under the seat, toward the door and onto my damn carpet!! I have yet to silicone it, I didn't have any. I'm going to change the seals and take it from there.

Actually those stripes are silver and I dont believe ive ever seen white stripes on an r/t factory.....
