Possible to get a 97 neon sohc? to bout 160hp with out alotta big addons?
My buddy just got a MX6 bout 158 horse or sumthin like that..i was just wondering if theres any lil addons i can do to get me closer to that... im sure his is going to be faster its manuel and such but i wanna have sumthin to have some fun ...

The bolt-ons and a decent cam (tuned properly) should get you 160 HP to the crank no problem. My car is 132 to the wheels now, which puts it in the 160ish HP to the crank region. So a true CAI (not an ebay warm-air type or the K&N FIPK), larger TB, quality header (reworked Pace Setter, Mopar, TTI med or long-tube, AFX, Fast Fabs, BDMS - NOT Chikara or most anything you can buy new on ebay), 2.5" Dynomax piping with a new cat (depending on header selection), and a straight-through muffler like the Hooker Max Flow or Dynomax UltraFlow. A Crane 0010 0012 will still require new valve springs, as will either version of the stock Magnum cam (2001-up R/T's and ACR's). Crane 0014 or bigger will need higher compression... Comp Cams makes a decent cam that doesn't require spring upgrades, and still worth 4-6 HP over the '95 cam (which is 4 HP over the '96-up stock cam), but their bigger cam will need new springs. Any aftermarket cam will need dyno tuning for best results (yes, you want an adjustable cam gear...).
Even without the cam, you should be making what I am or better. Just remember, if you have an ATX you're putting nearly 20 HP less to the ground as a MTX... So even with all the bolt-on's on your car, I could take my car back to stock and still be faster...

just to add a little perspective on what may be needed to hit 160hp at the wheels..
Blaise from neons.org just recently dyno'd his car.. and he did 157whp.
he has a sohc, mtx, with magnum head, magnum intake manifold, stock 2g tb.. afx long tube, udp (not sure which one).. afx race ecu, and im not sure on his exact exhaust setup, i think dynomax catback. he also has the crane 14 cam in there, and the head shaved .040"
that should pretty much give you an idea on what youd need to hit 160whp.
