Heat Shield

I got my new header last week and am going to put it in as soon as the new cat arrives. My question is about the heat shield. Can I take it out without melting my stock airbox? Thanks.

Shorty header and a cat in the stock location? Keep the heat shield.

If your gonna upgrade to CAI then Id just leave it off. Put em both on when you have it.

Thanks for all the replies. I won't be upgrading to a CAI on this Neon so I'm going to leave the heatshield in. I had to modify it a little to clear the header so it wouldn't rattle but it fits good. Thanks again.
