Default coil pack types?

hey guys i have a question that i can not figure out at all, i hope some one can help me get this out of my head, its stuck like a crappy jingle from a comercial. in the coil packs that i have seen in the junkyard. under it there is a number in yellowish- whiteish paint ranging from 5-8 from what i have seen (dont quote me on that) anyway most common is the numbers 5 & 6. is there a meaning to those numbers? my car had one with the number 6 and i replaced it with one that had a 5 on it. is there a differance other than the old one has round connections and this one has flat ones? please please help.

ps. if you dont love this forum u go elswehere. everyone is helpful here

I don't remember which one had round or rectangle, but the 95 and some 96's had one type of connector (as I said, I don't remember if it was the round or rectangle) and then some 96's until 99 had the same connector as well. As for the number underneath, I wouldn't bother with it.

95's had round pins, early 96's too. Since then, flat pins. The coils themselves are the same otherwise.
