A/C Problems
Today when I started up my Neon, it took forever before my A/C started to get cold, and even then it was no where
near as cold as it should be. To give a bit of history I have had 2 new compressors fitted in the last 3 years, the first was defective. Is there anyway I can check the system myself, as anyone I speak to says"oh don't touch the A/C, you have to take that to a dealer", any help would be appreciated.

a quick check of the system is to warm the engine up to operating temperature, crank the ac to max, open doors on car to make shure ac stays on, with the ac compressor engaged - the clutch will make an audible click and the center of the clutch will rotate. if the compressor discharge line feels warm and the compressor inlet pipe feels cool, the system is properly charged. you might want to try a thermometer in the vent too air ci\onditioned air is generally 30 - 40 degrees F cooler than the ambiant outside air.
