Default 1998 Neon electrical issue

Hey guys I went to get in my neon today and the radio is dead none of the heater controls are working and the defrost button.

Went to change the fuse and everything works fine now, think it can be a short? once in a while the instroment panel goes dead and then turns back on. Thanks

Is this a fuse issue you think?

Thanks

Sometimes a fuse will blow just because it gets old and even the slightest surge will kill it. Just keep a watch on that circuit and if it blows again, then you probably do have a short somewhere.

Nope. Most likely you are having a case of the instrument panel circuit board cold solder issue. Check out the sticky link and find the one that talks about it and how to fix it.

and please read over the entire thread to get details on issues and answers that others experienced trying this. BTW. Even if you do everything right, it still may not work because sometimes the boards just go bad and have to be replaced. If you are lucky, you can find just the board you need without having to replace it all.
