Weather Strip Performance????
I was reading up on some intake performance, and i heard that if you simply remove the weatherstrip along the windshield and the engine bay you gain 1+ hp. Is this true? Nothing I think is even worth doing, but i was just curious. They say it lets more air get in along the intake area.
I've also read the same thing somewhere. I think it would depend on you particular airbox/intake setup to some degree, but regardless if your intake is at the rear of the engine compartment this will allow it to get more air as well as letting out some excess heat I assume. Either way it's about a 30sec mod, it just slides off. You don't even have to remove the stripping from the engine bay it will rest quite nicely just below it's original location. Try it out and see if you notice a difference. I personally haven't experenced any problems running with it off, but watch out for moisture issues.
yes, removing the weatherstripping there has been shown to have a 1hp gain.
i should also note, that i could run on the dyno multiple times, and have a 1hp gain from run to run as well.. so im not real sure that 1hp gain from the weatherstripping is actually a gain, or just a variance from run to run.

It may or may not work, but it can't hurt and will reduce the temp a little.

I took it off, drove around for a few minutes and when i got back home i immediatly put it back on. The only thing it seems to do is make your car look uglier. lol
?
We're talking about the rubber strip on the cowl, not the cowl itself... Been so long since mine was on, but I didn't think it was even visible unless you really looked for it.
