1997 neon help
You can also clear codes by pulling the fuel pump fuse (in the box behind the battery, it's the only 20a fuse) for a minut or so.
The multiple cylinder misfire usually has something to do with the plugs, wires, coilpack, coilpack wiring, or (rare) a skipped tooth on the timing belt. Fresh copper plugs and new wires (stick with whatever's cheap at the parts store, don't go for gimmick wires like Nology) usually solves the problem. Coilpacks go from time to time (not mine after 236,000 miles) and can be checked at your local parts store, and the MSD replacement is cheaper than one form Autozone or the dealer (identical specs). I had a code 43 that was caused by the wiring - the clip on the connector broke and the connector eventually started wigging its way out. Tie wrapped, no problems since.
Best of luck!

Thanks- I will try to do all of the above ( or at least have someone do it for me --I am female--LOL--) I will let you know how it turns out. I did call the service shop and explain what happened. They told me to check plugs and wires and put a bottle of injector cleaner in. So, I will try that also.. Thanks alot for all your help
So, I had my spark plugs changed-- there was oil all over 3 of them. Put fuel injector cleaner in. Reset code. Light has not come back on in over a week. Should I be worried about all the oil that was on the plugs? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Karen
