Default SOHC motor

Iv got a 95 SOHC. Was lookin to put the DOHC pistions in it to jump the compression up. The question I got is am I gonna run into valve clearance issues since those pistons are domed? Thanks for the help if anyone does?

I do not think so. The blocks are the same, you might, just for piece of mind, take the head down and check it for how far it has been decked. If it is decked too far, it might have issues with the pistons.

Actually the 1995 cam for the SOHC engine is something subsequent year SOHC'ers want to get because it was more agressive then later years, so my advice is keep it.

Yes, if you are going the budget route, then get a 95 cam. If you want something bigger, OS valves and a crane 16 or 18 would be good.

Ok great. Also I heard that the neons that have the DOHC 5spd have a locker in the trany that kicks in at 35mph. Is this true? If so I just bought a 96 avenger SE that has the DOHC in it with a 5spd. Runs. Drives. Not a bad deal. Only 120000 miles on it
