1996 neon sport
Hey guys,
Been having some issues with my 1996 dodge neon sport. It has the DOHC, MT and contains the competition package. My issue is that the ecm (the big gray box near the middle drivers side of the engine bay) is giving me some issues and needs to be replaced. Was curious if anyone knows of where to get one, either used or new, for cheap. The dodge dealer wants over $800 for a new one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Well I originally got a throttle position senson code along with a random misfire and cylinder 3 misfire codes. When the car starts the rpms immediately shoot up to 2500 and then drop down to 1000 where it idles. As Im driving along and remove my foot from the throttle, the rpms, instead of dropping like they should, hold for around 5-10 seconds at whatever rpm I ws currently at when I took my foot off the throttle. From that point they start to drop. When Im coming to a full stop and take the car out of gear, instead of steadily decreasing as I slow down, the rpms will hang at 2000 and wont drop down to idle, roughly 1000, till I come to a complete stop.
Thought, at first, that the throttle position sensor was giving me issues but ran some tests with a multimeter and determined that the throttle position sensor is fine and that the wires connecting the TPS to the ECM are not shorted or cut.
I am currently going to check my throttle cable to make sure that it is not just a stuck cable that is causing all the issues.

Usually the IAC as das mentioned. Sometimes a faulty speed sensor can make the rpms hang or drop unusual. Does the idle seem to hang when shifting also? Wouldn't hurt to check over the vacuum system.
like if I'm in 3rd and I'm at 5k and I step on the clutch or put it in neutral the rpms hang until I come to a stop. any thing I can clean/ to fix the issue. its really annoying thanks I_ride.

Just be careful if the manifold hasnt been off in a while, bolts will snap or pull threads. You will also need coolant and a new gasket. Or just use throttle body cleaner and spray the **** out of the inside of it.
