I am not sure on the size of the CTS socket. The reservoir can be challenging to remove with the power steering and AC stuff in the way. Is there any room to possibly drop it out of the bottom of the engine bay?

As for problem #1, you can unbolt and shift the PS reservoir out of the way to get it out, or do as das stated and drop it out the bottom.

As for problem #2, you need a deep well socket to remove the sensor. the deeper the better. I do not remember what is the correct metric size, but I believe it is 18 or 19mm. Everything on the car is metric. No SAE.
PS. check the wires and connector to make sure there are no shorts/cracks, etc before you replace it. You may just have a bad/dirty connection.
