Sometimes when i turn my 'internal' fan on (Fan/air con switch) the main engine fan comes on. Now I am led to believe that the main engine cooling fan is supposed to come on with the air con, but surely it shouldnt cycle on when just putting on the internal fan motor without the air con. Have i got a switch fault or is this common.

 

It will also turn on with the defroster. The defroster will cycle the a/c compressor on to keep the compressor working in the winter.

 

Cheers mate, thanks for that. i will keep my eye on it to confirm what it does. Your reply would seem logical in order to prevent the compressor from seizing in the winter.
