Dies in hot wether
My 98 2.0L Recently started sputering and eventualy shuting off after a while of driving on hot days i got a code for misfire on 3 and 4 (check engine light was on) I replaced plugs but still had the prob. I pulled a plug wire while it was sputering and the spark was not consistent it randomly did not spark. I replaced the coil pack but still hav the prob, when this happens the coollant is is not over heating, the check engine light has not come on again since the first time. At night the car runs very good
What would be the next thing in line after the coil pack that could cause this prob?
Could it be something else such as injectors?
When the trouble started I put platnum plugs in and since have read that this is not a good idea.

getthe codes and post them then we can help better. to get codes turn key on, off, on, off on and leave on, count # of times checkengine light flashes blink pause blink blinklong pause= 12 code 12 is the start code and code 55 is the end code. when turning key to get codes just go to accessory and not to start the car.
The light is not currently on, it came on the first time the car died and I had the codes scaned I then reset it, the car has died twice since then with no check engine light coming on. The only codes it has are 12 and 55 that is blink pause blink blink long pause 5 blinks pause 5 blinks, Start and finish right?
intake air temp sensor?
96 and later it is combined with the map sensor.
to check sensor unplug it check the resistance of it at room temp (70 degrees F = 7,000 to 13,000 ohms) next start engine and warm it up until it reaches operating temp. the resistance should be lower (200 degrees F = 700 to 1,000 ohms)
just a thought but it is worth checking

You said you changed the plugs and the coil pack, but did you change the wires themselves? Wires caused a misfire on my car at one time. Worth a shot.
Also, you said you put platinum plugs in? Take them out! Run either Champion or NGK coppers. They both work the same, though I've been told Champion last longer.

I had the same exact problem out of my 97 automatic sohc, in the winter i could drive the car for a long time and never have a problem, but on hot days i could drive it about 40 minutes and then it would start spitting and sputtering until the motor died, then i would wait about a half hour and go again, then the same thing in like 15 - 20 minutes, but no check engine lights, no over heating, replaced coil pack and everything, but nothing worked i never figured it out, but i just drove it until i cracked the head, so may have a problem with the head on the car, so i just bought 98 neon.
