Angry Shifter cable quandry

I replaced the shifter cables on my girlfriend's 1996 Neon because the bushing at the end was gone and I couldn't find an aftermarket one at the time (I found some later so my $250 is supporting a local Dodge dealer). Anyway, I replaced the cables and the large ended cable ( whatever the heck its called) is slipping off the post after a few shifts. The bushing in the end is brand new of course, so what the heck is wrong with this thing? I've heard about adjusting the crossover cable, but can't find the directions for that if that has anything to do with the problem. Can anyone help me out before I break out the dynamite?

WOW, $250 for cables? You should have spent $25 on some Booger Bushings from www.boogerbushings.com.
