last weekend I installed an aftermarket tach on my 95 neon. and when I went to put everything back together I noticed the gauge cluster turned on as soon as I plugged it in with the key off. the oil pressure light and the airbag light on along with the chime for about 5 seconds. The come then turns off but the oil and airbag lights stay on. When started the gas gauge goes up and the temp gauge goes top about half. And the speedo doesn't work now. The connections I the back have been re soldered. But when I turn ther headlights on ther cluster seems to reset. But still doesn't work. now I had to disconnect ther cluster to keep it from draining the battery. Had anyone ran into this problem after installing a tach? Any help or wiring diagrams would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you hooked something up incorrectly. I would retrace your steps to insure proper installation.

 

Yeah.... I'm an idiot... I had the cluster plugs upside down..... The clips holding them to the dash are broke. I got the plug schematic and realized it was upside down. Switched it around and voila! Everything works. Luckily nothing was harmed.
