Default 97 neon bogging after new head gasket

Hi all,
I recently replaced the head gasket on my 97 neon. Instead of putting the old air filter unit on, I put in a CAI; also new plugs (properly gapped), all new seals and gaskets, belts, thermostat, etc. When I was putting the motor back together, I checked the timing three different times, and it was dead on.

But now, the car seems to bog when I put my foot into it, it never did that before, it just got up and went. It's fine if I go easy on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It starts up and runs fine? If so, then the timing is probably correct. I would look at vacuum lines and such. Pull the plugs and have a look at them. They may tell you what's going on.

it's been a hard starter since I got it, nothing has changed there.
I'll pull the plugs tonight, but they've only been in for a week. I'll look over the vacuum lines that weren't changed as well. Thanks, I'll let you know.

Does it backfire at all? If so, could be a timing issue.
