Question trans help

i have a 98 r/t with a 5 speed trans second started to grind for no reason after replacing the clutch if im at low rpms i can get into second without it grinding but the rpms and my speed are so low it bogs the engine i cant down shift at all it wont even go in after i get into second its fine n i have the normal torque n power tht i always had but i dont understand y its grinding


also if anyone has a build diagram for this model trans could u plz send me a copy at clintsimon_1@yahoo.com or ask for my address plz and thank you

So the grinding only started after the clutch replacement?

Your clutch cable may need to be adjusted or your clutch isn't fully disengaging.

yes i bought the car and it needed a new cluch but none of the gears grinded it was jus slippin really bad and the throw out was bad so i replaced it and second started grinding ive had many ppl tell me its the sincoirds but i have absolutly no knowledge of transmissions so i dont know wat the problem could be ill try adjusting the cable when the 2.4 swap is finished theres no motor in the car for me to try it right now

Also look at the clutch fork and make sure it's working correctly.

Question

ok do u know if a srt4 trans will fit the stratus block and wat i would need to do this trans swap?

Depends on what year block you are referring to. You can only use up to 2002 I believe for the 2.4 swap. The 3.55 tranny is better for boosted neons and the 3.94 tranny is great for n/a neons. I don't think the nvt-350 is a good match with the 2.0 or 2.4 engines. I may be wrong on that but remember reading it somewhere.

im using a 98 2.4 from stratus i was told the swap is alot more complicated to wire if u dont use a 96-99 2.4

I do know the first gen neon trannies bolt up to both the 2.4 block and the SRT-4 block. So I would think it would go the other way as well. Fitment may be an issue but I am not sure.
