this neon will just idle go to give it gas and it back fires and spits and sputters replaced the plugs fuel pump map sensor camsenso crank sensor gettin no codes on the cel any help would be greatly i havent came to a car yet except this one that i cant figure out and this one has me so frustrated thanx guys for any help o yeah it only seems to happen after the car warms up most of the time when the car is cold and the rpms are setting about 1900 it will rev up an go but after it warms up wont do anything but just idle like i said and sometimes you start it up cold and it go straight to idle and give it gas and does same thing spit sputter

 

i think there is something wrong with either your transmission or your exost.. i would recomendin you takin it to a dodge place and having them look at it..

 

Whats the milage on this thing, and has the timing belt ever been replaced or have you tried checking the timimg after the car is warmed up? Also try looking for a vacuum leak.

 

When the head gasket blew on my 95 neon, it sputtered and had hardly any power at all. It would barely go up on the car ramps. Just an idea.

 

I KNOW IT AINT THE HEAD GASKET IT HAS 192000 MILES ON IT I GOT THEW THING PUT A FUEL PUMP IN IT RAN GREAT FOR LIKE 400 MILES PLENTY OF POWER THEN ONE MORNIGN IT STARTED THIS NO VACUUM LEAKS TIMING BELT LOOKS GOOD DIDNT SEE NO CRACKS IM GONNA RIP THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER OFF AND SEE WHA THAPPENS IM SORTA THINKNI GTHOUGH IT MIGHT BE THE NEW FUEL PUMP MIGHT BE DEFECTIVE ILL KEEP TAKING IDEAS THANX PPL

 

turned out to be the throttle postion sensor it wasnt working at all the computer took over and warmed up the car then tried to rely on thr sensor thanx for all your help
