hi, I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I've done a bunch of research and thread search function and all that on this and still have not found my answer.

My question is will a transmission from a 05 neon fit in a 99 neon coupe?

I have a tranny from one of my old neon's and there's a 99 neon coupe for sale for 800 and it either needs a new tranny or a rebuild. Ive checked out the car its real clean and nice and all I think for 800 its a steal. The car and my tranny are both 5 speeds. Now all i need to know is will my tranny from my 05 neon fit in this 99 and function properly?

Please help me out here guys...

oh yeah and the 99 is a dohc and my tranny is from a sohc, not sure if that matters or not.

Maybe one of the mods will correct me, but i dont believe that it will work on it. like i said they may say so.

 

alright it was worth a shot, hmm but for 800, i can pick up a used tranny for 300, or a bearing rebuild kit for 150. I think ima pick up that deal.

 

The 2nd gen neons tranny is controlled by the PCM if i remember correctly. Size is also an issue in the 1st gen engine bay. Causes overheating issues. The 4 speed tranny from the 2nd gen can fit(VERY TIGHTLY), but causes other issues.
