rear wheel drvive neon
I was wondering if any one has ever seen a rear wheel drive dodge neon? Theres a guy that has one and I went outside work one day to check it out. Im not sure what year it was but it was a gen 1. He pulled the stock engine and transmission out and got a 2.4 engine and trasmission out of a dodge stratus. Custom fabricated motor mounts and strut towers in the rear and mounted it right behind the seats with a wall behind the seats for protection. Im not to sure how safe this would be but it was really awesome. He still has the radiator, battery, and a fuel cell under the hood with all the hoses and wires running to the back. Is there a custom neon forum where guys talk about this online?
This is the first I've heard of this. All I can say is that's farking insane! Not too sure on the whole safety issue, but the COST! I would think, however, you could do that with keeping the engine in the engine bay, just get the other transmission and driveshaft and all else that would be needed to make the back wheels the active ones. All I can think about is how much money would go into such an endeavor!
I haven't heard about this Neon. But I have heard of one that used a Jeep transmission and rear-axle and mounted a 2.4L lenghtwise.
And, I'm helping my brother do a RWD, Big Block 440 conversion on his '95 Neon.

Anything is possible. I mean you can get a buick grand national engine and change all your axles and everything but that's when it's no longer a neon is the neon shell lol. F it drop a 440 in lol.
a 440 in a 95 neon? ive had a 65 pro street dodge coronet with a 440......but a neon? well i can tell you this much if its putting out alot of power...you better strengthen the f!*$ out of it or all that torque will tear it into pieces. and why a 440 anyway? its too big and way too heavy! use a 318, 340, or 360! make sure you show us some pictures

We are lengthening the car about 9" (moving the front wheels forward) and moving the firewall back a considerable distance. The goal is to get the weight distribution about 50/50. We are building a full frame with plenty of reinforcement from the cage.
We'd actually considered a small block Mopar, but figured as long as we got the weight distribution right, a big block Mopar will make more power for less money. This is a budget build, we got the car for free, and so far have spent about $2k in parts and materials (Engine, Tranny, Cage kit, 4 Link kit, front suspension, etc..)
