My apologies if this has already been asked. The local Stewart's has new gas pumps installed. They're marked "Contains 10% Ethanol". I was wondering what people thought about it being safe for 1st generation Neons. I did a little research on line and one site claimed that all model of Dodges after 1986, can use it. Is this actually true?

I started wondering if this has been going in upstate New York, but we have never noticed it. But the new pumps at the convenience store has me wondering if it is indeed safe for 1999 Dodge Neons.

Have driven my 98 Neon SOHC on E85 the last 9 month. No problem.
I use a E85 converter from www.change2e85.com
It actualy works. It manages the amount of fuel, by longer opening in the injectors.
It burns about 25% more fuel with E85. Do not know about E10.
Did a head job few weeks ago, cause of som mods I have planed. All looked fine.
You probably dont have to use an converter.

Trialmaster, wondering why you converted to E85?

 

I will first tell you a litle story about Norway.
We are the welthiest nation in the world.
Because of that, we have the highest gas prices in the world.
We dont have 87 and 93 oct like you do, we have 95 and 98 oct + E85.
In Norway, you have to pay 9 dollar pr gallon 95 oct.
We pay 6 dollar pr gallon ov E85.
Thats the main cause why I converted to E85.
Other facts, are that E85 is wery clean, no sot, and it smells lovely, lik some heavy partying.
You can as you may know, have some high cr, like ut to 14:1 with out knock, but then you have to use E85 only!

 

^^^Interesting facts. But I am wondering, since E85 burns faster than regular gasoline do you really save money? I realize you are paying less per gallon but if you have to fill up more regularly, do you save much?

 

I dont save much at all, really. Maby 600$ a year.
I use it, because its clean, and smells better than gass

Yes, they are. My new head is runing E85 every day. I'm very curious about how it's inside after some thousen miles. My crane 12 is ok, but a 14 would be even better, dont you think?
I'm allso considering to bolt on a AF/X-race our street, and a cat back system from TTI.
I have som problems geting under 15,5 sec in a 1/4. Well, its ok for a mild sohc I think.
I have som problems with exessive wheelspinn. I feel the power are comeing at 4000 rpm and up, but to start at that rpm I will just spinn loose. I'm runing on 195/50-15 Kuhmo tires. Maby 205/50-15 will solve the problem.
