Default Subwoofer enclosure?

I have a 1996 Neon and was wandering if anyone knew weather a single 12" Kicker Solobaric with a vented box will fit in the trunk?

Here is a link describing the 12" speaker and box.

Yes that will fit no problem. I have had a 15" sub in my car, 3 10" subs, 2 12" subs, and they always fit.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I best go ahead and get it ordered, or should I go with the 15" version? I just instaled a Alpine head unit, and am currently waiting for my 6.5" Kicker door speakers and Kicker 6x9 rear deck speakers, I ordered them from Crutchfield, they are supposed to be here friday. What kind of tweeters will fit in the dash? I am looking at a set of 1" Kickers but I guess I would have to build brackets for them to work. Any good amp suggestions that would push the solobaric, cleanly?

I don't recall the tweeter size. I usually go with kicker for the mid speakers. But I like JL for subwoofers. I am not sure what amp would power that sub you will have to check the speaker specs. I like to go with mono amps that can go 1 ohm stable. At least 500 watts rms at 2 ohm. I also run 2 power caps so my damn head lights done blink when I beat at night. Right now I have (3) 10" sony xs-gtr100l and a brand new sony XM-D1000P5 900 Watt RMS. Thing is super loud and the subs seem maxed with the amp only half way up. But IMO that is the best amp sony ever made, I was so excited to see a new one on ebay last week I had to buy it.

Square subs may look cool but in reality it's a bad design...the stress will be most in the corners and the sub may crack. just my though

I have already ordered the 12" Kicker Solobaric and a Hifonics Brutus amp. My new door and rear deck speakers should be hear today. I still have to decide on what tweeters I should use.

Really? I have been arround alot of people with Kicker Solobarics and have never heard of this. One of my buddies has 4 15" Solobarics in a Ford Expedition, it is by far the most impressive system I have ever been arround and he has had them for over four years with no problems. But knowing the luck I have, I will probably have the problems you mentioned. It does make sence that they would have more stress on the corners than a round speaker, but they also hit harder than a round speaker becuase they have more surface area, which means they push more air. (or that is what I have been told).

That is true. More surface area and more power are the only ways to get more db's. A well designed and built box helps too.

I've got an SA-8 and while you may think that an 8 incher can't be a sub...this thing gets seriously low. I wanted it more for the small space requirements than anything and I'm happy with it

Well I got rid of the solobaric and bought 3 old school 10" JL Audio W6's in a sealed box wired to run 1 ohm and a Nakamichi 1200 watt mono 1 ohm amp. How would you put the box in the trunk for the best sound? Speakers facing the rear or speakers facing the front? I currently have them facing the back, does it have any difference in output or sound quality? Also how do I get my trunk lid to stop rattleing? It sounds great in the car but one you get out of the car it sounds like someone is trying to beat there way out of the trunk, noisy as h*ll.

i made my own fiberglass box that fits behind the wheel well and the taillight. ported it to spec with my sub and just made sure my measurements were right. sounds amazing takes up almost no space and only took about 3hrs build time.
