Default mileage

I am currently only getting 200 miles to a tank of gas instead of 300+. None of my mods have been to the engine. The only error code I get using the ignition is 'canister purge solenoid', besides error 12, which is becaue of disconnectingvtje battery. Could this problem for the fume evap drop my mileage this extreme?

Makes me think you have a fuel leak somewhere, maybe in the filler neck or tank? The evap puts gas fumes that were pushed out of the gas system into the motor to be burned. The system runs off vacuum, so first check over the lines. The light can also trigger from a leak in the system usually in the back. Sometimes a loose gas cap. Check the fuel pressure for giggles just to make sure everything is flowing in the system. I usually unplug the evap and I have never noticed a drop in mpg. But then again my cars are modified and I usually drive in boost .

Silly robot explaining evap system.

Thank you, I haven't been able to locate a leak yet.

Plastic or metal gas tank? Did you check the filler neck for holes?

I checked for holes in the filler tube. I didn't visually see any, or evidence of a leak. my tank is plastic. I also ran a pressure test on the fuel rail. Pressure was approximately 20 on the prime, 50 after being started.

Let the gauge sit on it with 50psi for a few hours and see if its drops. Gas cap gasket looks good?

Here is a few things I found in the manual:

Excessive fuel consumption
1. Dirty or clogged air flter
2. Emissions system not functioning properly (chapter 6)
3. Fuel injection system not functioning properly
4. Low tire pressure or incorrect tire size

From what I read from chapter 6.
it says the charcoal canister or hoses are usually to blaime
The evap line routing should be found on the sticker under the hood, this is the first thing to check
The purge solenoid itself is located on top of the passenger motor mount, may need replaced or at least the hoses chased
Looks like there are two fuel tank roll overs. One on the filler tube, one on top of the tank.

Hope this info helps, check back.
