try Tighten the power steering belt?
also, does she have a Shield for the Drive belt? with such age on the car, the shields are usually gone. the shield would prevent water from getting into the crank pulley.

Yes there are shields to keep water from the crank pulley - one on the bottom and one on the passenger side fender well. If you don't have both, go to a junkyard to get them.

As for the best way to tighten your PS belt, do the following:

1) There are two 13mm bolts on the back side of the PS pump, loosen both of them.

2) There is a single 15mm bolt on the front side of the bracket that holds the PS pump in place. loosen it.

3) Get a 1/2 inch breaker bar and put it into the square hole on the bracket near the top. You will push it toward the back of the car (raise it upward) to tighten the belt.

4a) If you have a friend, allow him/her to tighten the two bolts on the pump housing bracket while you maintain pressure on the bracket with the 1/2 inch breaker bar.

4b) If you don't have a friend, get the bolts on the backside of the bracket just tight enough to allow you to still move it, but tight enough to where you won't have to crank on it a lot. With your left hand, keep pressure on the breaker bar and with your right hand, tighten at least one bolt as secure as you can.

5) Tighten the rest.

6) Test and repeat if not tight enough.
