I know this is trivial to many... but I need to replace my cigarette lighter socket because mine is broke and its just hanging there... so the wires come out often and I cant even plug my phone in. I went to auto store and got one to replace with but the bottom is different... ie- the old one has a white plug like thingy in the socket that a plug (on the actual wires) plugs into. But on new one theres no white plug thingy and when I tried to get it off old lighter socket I demolished it beyond using it again. Can I just attach wires directly to the new one without plug thingys? Theres 3 wires on old one and Im not sure where to attach on new one. I cant find anything on this in Haynes manual... Please help!

 

I would get an OEM replacement from the junkyard, hook it up how it was pulled out,

 

ya that would be easiest. they also sell the sockets at autozone and places like that
