Default 1998 Dodge Neon Questions

I have a 1998 Dodge Neon Coupe. Basically, their is a few things I would like to fix but kinda lost as to how.

When driving, you can hear the wind (cause I haul **** lol j/k) coming from both windows just near the back top. Any way to stop this from happening? Gets to to be annoying after a while.

Also, I noticed that I can't keep anything in my trunk because somehow, somewhere, water is getting into the trunk. Any ideas on this one as well. Other than that, I'm good. Thanks in advance.

The windows on 1st gen Neons do not have the metal frame surrounding the windows - a flaw they fixed on the 2nd gen. Because of that, the seals are the only way to keep out the noise and water and over time, they need to be replaced. That is what I recommend.

Also, because the windows do not have a channel to "lock" them at full up, they will sometimes slip down (old hand cranks will also slip over time) and require the owner to occasionally crank them back up to full up. When I start hearing a lot of noise, that is the first thing I try, and it usually helps because I find my windows have slipped down about a 1/4 inch in some cases.

1st gen Neons also have another famous flaw - water pouring in from around the tail light assembly. You need to replace the foam rubber gasket around the lights.

Also, when you do and before you put the new ones on, shoot a bead of clear acrylic caulk around the entire outside edge openings - and let it set - to give you one more level of protection. I did this and my trunk stays high and dry now. BTW, make sure you completely dry out the spare tire area - mine had 2 inches of water in it at one time.

Okay awesome. Everything sounds good to me. Figure working on the windows will be a good time to replace the door speakers anyways. Thanks a lot, really appreciate it.

Good luck.

As for the door speakers, Neons use 6.75" ones. You CAN find 6.75" speakers, and even some at a semi-reasonable price if you go online, but most are WAY more expensive then buying a set of really good 6.5" speakers and getting the 6.75" to 6.5" adapter ring for about $5 each. That way, you get more options, better options, and lower prices for them, since 6.5" speakers are more standard in a lot of cars then the other ones.
