tool inventory is: compression tester, basic circuit test light, good Fluke meter. Keeps looking like rain so haven't got out the 40Mhz oscilloscope yet. Tach/dwell meter is still packed somewhere as is frequency counter. Lol, I spent some time in electronics. Forgot Actron code reader

Read another post again real slow this time. 01-10-2013/mirandaneon. sounds real close to problem I am having. Mine started with being overheated due to water pump going bad. Coil was a one for one swap, no plug change. Also, coil was run for about 2 weeks before no start issue. Has to be something simple like a shorted wire. Back to basics. Took a few days off to get serious. will check gas for water, then fuel pressure.

I know firing order is 1-3-4-2. that is a given. From ohming out coil, appears that only 2 primary windings and 2 secondary windings with one side of each primary winding to center wire. So 2 plugs has to be firing at one time, one on compression stroke and the other 360 degrees out. Not a problem as that would work. So next step is to see if right plug is firing at right time. Will figure out test setup tonight and try in morning.

Only took a little over a week to figure it out, but running. I was using standard troubleshooting methods to start with. I had to get serious and set up my own test procedures and found it. multi channel oscilliscopes are nice to have. Thanks to all.
