I just replaced the speedmeter dash assembly on my sons 99 Neon ( old one would not pick up the speedometer and somtimes the gauges won't work) .He says everything is working but now the check engine light is on . OIL was changed approx 2k miles ago new timing belt and water pump etc approx 5 k miles ago . It's running fine and has 63k miles any thoughts ? Thanks

 

What was the reasoning behind replacing it instead of just soldering the bank side of it to fix it?

 

Thanks for getting back to me . The gauges were not working . We tried soldering them but to not avail . So we replced the gauge assembly they are now working but the service engine light is now on and flashes . Everything is new as far as the timing belt ,water pump was also replaced while we were right there .

 

Have you tried turning the key to the on position 3 times and watching the cel light to see what the code is?

 

ok how do you solder it?
because my dash goes in and out? but mostly the speedometer really...
and if i tap my the top of my dash it will go on but sometimes wont. and when I turn off the car it keeps marking full tank, temp marks good and stays at 55 mph and 2000 rpms.?
any ideas of what this is?
