Civics taught all about 2.0s
Ok so I was on my way home from work and I found these two guys rollin a 95 and 2000 civic coups. The 95 had the ugliest fart can i ever saw, and the other one was missing a hub cap. They were playing around so I decided to join in. I met up with them at the stoplight and it was on. Lets just say two a-holes were left staring at each other when I flew by. Sorry, but I figured you guys would all like to hear another good story about a neon smoking a civic, well two tonight. Who knows how many tommrow. Peace Peeps.
I pulled up next to a civic hatchback on my way home late in the evening/early morning and he kept racing up to every red light. He was getting mighty pissed off that he couldn't leave me at one of them. I would be driving pretty regular and I'd pass him as he was stopped at the red light, and I just kept driving normally. He would blow past me, thinking I was racing and come to a screeching halt at the next red light. Finally I pull up next to him at a red light, and was keeping his rev's high, I thought "what the hell" and I gave it a go. I was running bone dry stock, and I've gotta say, the civics are either pretty gutless or the guy just got over-anxious and couldn't shift properly.
HAHAHAHAHHA i love to hear about all these dumb ricers getting there asses handed to 'em!!! i have a few hon-duh stories myself, some guy in a prelude thought he was hot **** with the stickers all over his car(must of read that handy honda performance book
) at the local track one day. so i went and got my 95 neon sohc pretty much stock except for the basics i.e. cat back exaust, intake, short shifter and that would be it. i ran 61.34 mph in the 1/10 mile (maybe 1/8mile i dunno but its whatever is shorter then the 1/4) any ways yep blew right by his ***, he had the fart can on there, and some rims and unknown enjine mods.haha after that he was done for the day. then the other day this kid in a civic had one of those fart cans on there too, like they all do thought he was hot **** reving it up next to me at the light like an ***, so i did the same and let him know what was up.when the light turned green all i seen was was him in the rearview mirror. well just thought i'd share in on the ricers getting burned by the great neon. they should learn you cant mess with a mopar!
thumbs up to everyone who lets the hon-duh drivers have it

Mid-90's Civics run circles around Neons at a real track. I'd ditch the Neon in a heartbeat to get my old CRX Si back... if I didn't need the extra seats at the moment...
I absolutely love my Neon and will probably never get rid of it. And there is certainly not a shortage of ignorant, immature Honda owners giving properly prepped Hondas a bad name. And if this thread is any indication, the same goes for Neon owners as well.

well i'd have to say that would go for all people who drive a car they really like and are into. but i must disagree with the mid 90's civics running circles around neons. and i have a feeling many people on here will agree with me on this. for a few reasons a 92-95 civic =1.5 liter with 70 hp!!! and the biggest civic hmmm 1.6 liter with 125 hp. a 1st gen neon = 2.0 liter sohc with 132 hp the dohc with 150 hp. for some reason it seems like the neon is a tad bit faster. but no disrespect to the people who like civics because i mean sure they can be made fast and look alright. but stock to stock neon is going to take 'em hands down, but thats what i think. what do the rest of you think?
The 2005 Honda Civic DX Sedan has got 115 HP, while the Dodge Neon has 132 HP for nearly all their models, except the DOHC engine, which has 150 HP as explained above. The Neon and the Civic have near the same curb weight, and near the same price. I just find it sickening that people buy civics expecting it to turn them into amazing speed demons regardless of their driving skill.
I'll tell you the truth, I bought my car because it's fun to drive and it's great on gas. On top of that, I'm faster than many a car in my class. Of course, there's going to be the guy who tells me "STFU, I can beat you in my Honda S2000". Well of course f@rknuts, but that's not nearly the same class as me. I'm driving a 4 door economy car, while you're driving a highly specialized sports coupe. I won't lie, I've lost to my share of imports and domestics alike, I just find that the young punk driving the Civic Si that his dad bought for him with a fart can and 14 fins on it are the ones who think they can rule the road. Compare apples to apples, and bring me some driving skills and we'll see who wins.

Burned a Civic Si the other day. I know it was the fact my cars quicker because the kid driving it drives Go-carts competitivly. He knew how to drive, so it proves that Dodge built the better sport-compact. By the way, I truely belive that the Stage 3 SRT-4's are god.

I'll say this much - I hate the people who butcher Civics. They're decent cars, but people do stupid **** to them.
But to walk around bragging that you raced a Civic isn't saying much. Besides, just about all of the numbers I see quoted here for HP are outdated or for low trim levels. While yes, a first gen Neon can take any DX, LX, or EX Civic from 2004 or earlier, you've got to keep in mind that, regardless of what the TF&TF kiddies think, they aren't meant to be fast cars, they're not performance cars.
Just don't generalize any Honda as being a ricer or being slow just because of what idiots do to them - people do the EXACT same things with Neons and I'm sure just about anyone you say "I own a Neon" to will say the same thing to you. Like people who get a "CAI" and they have it sit on top of their f-ing exhaust manifold.
Oh, and a word of advise - keep an eye out for the 06's, at least the manuals. Honda's gotten a clue from the market and finally upgraded things to par for that class... And the Si is coming out soon - so if you think your DOHC with an Iceman intake and a muffler is going to take a 197bhp i-VTEC DOHC with a 6 speed and an lsd, then more power to you.
Properly driven though, I still think a late-90's Civic stands a chance against a Neon. Comparing a "90-95" Civic to a Neon isn't really fair either, btw... Just about everything you can do to a Neon you can do to a Civic, so if you're comparably modified... hm...

I agree, you do have to compare apples to apples. Compare the model years, and 05's are pretty much on par. The Neon started out peppier than the Civic did, but I think that it's pulled a bit of a switch. I'll admit that Honda's performance has increased over the years, but I don't think I'll ever give up my Neon before its time is due. Stupidity is stupidity, and yes, Neon owners are guilty of it too, but I find it much more prevalent in early model honda owners; these more more often than not first time owners (read: punk kid) who is just eager to get out there and rip up some road. They often lack the money to do REAL modifications to their car, so they get the ones that attract them some attention and try to intimidate other drivers.
Let's keep in mind here, I'm not saying that driving a Honda makes you lose IQ points, but a large number of inexperienced drivers are choosing them because they're abundant and they're cheap to buy, and cheap to modify.
