Default Aftermarket Tach

im trying to add a tach to a stock 96 2 dr neon.....it doesn't have one at all....and one of the wires for my aftermarket tach requires to go to the negitive end of the distributer.....but i don't know what wire or anything about the distributer....and the only thing i can see about my distraibuter is that it has a senors looking thing on it

Your going to have to remove the top of your dash. There will be a wire harness under that. You'll have to go hunting in it for a blue/grey wire. It sends the signal your tach needs to read the proper engine rpm. Just splice into that wire with a splicer, worked great for me.

I caught the said wire out in the engine bay by the PCM. Whichever floats your boat. Just make sure the tach is switch to 4 cylinder mode (most have a switch for 4 6 8).

Yup, the grey wire with the light blue stripe. Looking at the dash, it's on the right hand side of the two connectors behind the instrument cluster. Pin 7. You can get power from the wiring going to the defrost switch (forget which wire...).

Quick info, your car doesn't have a distributor, it has a coilpack. And since it's a wasted spark design and fires two plugs at the same time, hooking up there would give you a reading that is half of actual rpm's. There's a way around it, but it's not very good... The installed tach signal wire is much better.

Best of luck!
