95 neon fan stays on
hi I've read a lot of the topics here, and it seems there are some really smart people here
I hope I can get some good advice on my neon
the fan runs, the only way i can get it to shut off is by pulling the fuse,
I've replaced the each of the relays with a new one, one at a time, and put fuse back in and the fan comes on.
has anyone had a similar problem?

RE: 95 neon fan stays on
The fan is controlled by the PCM, based on input from the coolant temp sensor which has two outputs (the other goes to the instrument cluster and is barely a step above an idiot light). If your a/c (including defrost mode) is on, the fan should run nonstop. If your a/c is off, the car is cold, and the fan is running, then it's either a faulty signal from the temp sensor, a bad PCM (really really rare), or a sticking relay. You can pull the relay and swap it with any other relay in the PDC (black box behind the battery under the hood) to check it. I've had the horn relay stick before, talk about annoying... The relay should only cost $15-20 at a parts store if it needs replacing.
Best of luck!

RE: 95 neon fan stays on
just to add a twist to my problems, my trans has been shifting bad, slipping.....
when the fan fuse is pulled, I don't have this problem, my girlfriend didn't like the solution of runing the heat at full blast to keep the car temp down so I put the fuse in to run the fans, instantly the trans started acting up again
what exactly is a PCM?
could it be causing this problem, or am i just not keeping the trans fuild at the right temp?
