Default Has Anyone rebuilt their engine?

I was wondering if anyone here with a SOCH 96 neon has had their engine rebuilt. If so how much did it cost?

There are different levels of rebuilding. Some people just rering the engine, others do a complete overhaul. Your question is kind of open ended, how much of a rebuild are you wanting to do?

Anywhere from $500 - $50,000. What are you planning on doing.

Your looking at a stock rebuild with machine work in that price range. You could do a few modifications.

If you're just looking to replace an engine to get a car running agin, you can get one from a salvage yard. Heck, $1k could get you 2 or 3. Many of them will have a limited warranty (90 days, for example), and most will start engines where possible to make sure they run before pulling them. Just be sure it has the updated head gasket, and consider replacing the timing belt and water pump before installing it (another $150-200).

Best of luck!

I called about an engine today. $800 out of a 99 Neon with 75000 miles.
Think that is a high.

For that price you can have yours rebuilt with a few upgrades.
