I got a 98 neon sohc 5 speed and it keeps stalling. While I'm driving it just cuts out. If I hit the gas nothing happens and it will stall as soon as I take it out of gear. Then it doesn't want to start back up. It usually happened when I was on the gas pretty hard but now it will barely start and stall as soon as I put it in gear and start moving. I already changed my plugs and wires. I also put in a brand new fuel pump assembly. I'm out of ideas. Oh, the check engine light isn't on either. Last site I posted this on people asked me if my battery was dead so if anyone thinks of something that simple keep it yourself. It wouldn't run in the first place with a dead battery. Anyway, I appreciate any answers i can get here.

 

UPDATE...
I got it running again. All I did was make sure all my sensor connections were good and it started right up. Now I have a check engine light. Code 21 and 4?... I'm not sure what the second code was but it was forty something and was for the asd relay circuit. The 21 I know is o2 sensor. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

 

The asd relay. I would reset the PCM and see if you get any codes after that. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes and drive the car for a little while. Then check the codes.

 

The ASD relay sends power to the O2 sensors, as well as the fuel injectors and coilpack. If the relay is going bad, you can swap it with a known good one (horn, for example) for now. The relay will kick off completely if it loses crank signal, but that doesn't sound like the issue.

I got it running today after checking a few sensor connections. I got a code 21 so could a bad o2 be the case?

 

There are a bunch of things that will throw a code 21. If you can, get it to a place that reads codes for free, like Autozone. That will narrow things down a lot.
